The Unsleeping City Finale: Time Squaremageddon

I'm gonna warn you right now, due to the nature of this blog topic today, there will be major spoilers. If you do not want to get spoiled about the season finale of the Unsleeping City, then just skip this whole thing. If you don't really care about spoilers or have watched the episodes, then we can jump right in.

As it was in Fantasy High, the finale was a two-part battle episode. I guess the finales will now just be *blank* -megaddon, as Fantasy High's finale was "Promegaddon," which rolled off the tongue better, in my opinion.

First of all, the set that they had for this was absolutely incredible. I loved the trippy messed up buildings, it kinda reminded me of the ending of Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse. The American Dream looking like a white suburban dad with a torn-up flag as wings was both the coolest and funniest villain design I have seen in a hot minute.

The mechanic of being able to call on allies from past fights was such a nice feature, but I wish we could have seen Esther's mom and grandma come in and kick some butt. They were able to get some pretty good fighter, minus Don Confetti, of course. I will also mention this here, Stephan Sondheim with two giant buster swords was honestly dope.

This next section is gonna be about all the deaths that happened. First, Stephan Sondheim's death was pretty sad, but I got over it quickly. I just was not invested in his character as much as the cast and other viewers probably were. Santa dying was also depressing as he was part of the first fight in the Unsleeping City, but we did not see too much of him after that, so it was not that big of a loss. Lastly is Alejandro, which was the one the depressed me the most. We have been with Alejandro a lot and got to know way more of his backstory, so I guess that is why I took his death the hardest. At least we got to see him in heaven with his wife, which is what he always wanted.

The part where Brennan made everyone leave and called in each person one by one to have the American Deam speak to them was so chilling. Even though I knew they would all say no to his deal, there was a part of me that was still nervous.

Once again, Ally got a nat 20 on a roll that absolutely changes the battle. Brennan really has to start expecting these things whenever the finale is here.

Now we are going to talk about my special boy who I love to hell and back, Ricky Matsui. Him and Esther finally getting together was so funny and sweet, I love them so much dude. Ricky's sacrifice of unleashing a bunch of damage onto the American Dream, knowing that it would kill him, was dope as all get out; he is an angel!

Next, I will go over the sort of ending to each character's story. Pete opening a little magic bookshop, is so adorable, and him reconnecting with his family was a sweet ending. Ricky quitting being a firefighter and opening a homeless shelter was not something I expected, but I loved it nonetheless. Sofia running the Order of the Concrete Fist and living with her mom was so great; I'm glad she finally gets to see Dale too. Kingston living his life with Liz, was sweet, and Rowan, actually being a good ruler, was a delightful ending for her.

Finally, Kugrash. I loved this little rat-man since the moment he did his dumb dance. The fact that he sacrificed himself and ate the Bagel of All Things, which turned him into an existential being, was both expected and yet still a shock. The other player dedicated stuff to him was such a tear-jerker. I'm gonna miss these lovable fools.

Well, with Unleeping City done, this will be a Fantasy High only blog, unless Tiny Heist comes out soon. See y'all next time for more Dimension 20!
